Steps to Embed the Flickr Slideshow

Tonight I wanted to update my “Photography” page and I was able to figure out this amazing tool that Flickr provides.

Here are the steps that I took:
(screen shots with help from Skitch-an amazing tool)

1. First you sign into your Flickr account and then get to your Photostream main page.  In the top right corner of the frontpage you click on “Slideshow”

2. This will launch the slideshow (a great way to show your pictures on a black screen).  When you move your mouse over the screen, you will see the menu options.  Click on “Share”

3. You can then either “Grab the embed HTML:” code or “Customize this HTML” I chose to customize because I wanted a larger frame for the purposes of my site.

4. This was the final stage where I chose “Super-Size” which is a ratio of 800 x 600.  Then copy the code at the bottom of the page, and voila! you’re ready to embed to your slideshow.

We’ve been watching these eagles and eaglettes for a few weeks now (maybe longer).  They are growing fast  and soon they will take flight.

So i haven’t blogged since March 26th – that’s over a month!

I’ve neglected my website because of the whirlwind.  Things are looking up though and I’ve had a few days to regroup and do some fun stuff.

Winter term 2009 is officially over for me.  The marks are rolling in, so far I’ve received a grade for my Women’s Studies course “Women, Girls, & Popular Culture” {A}, and the Criminology course “Criminology in Contemporary Issue” {B+}.  Not too shabby. I’m still waiting for grades for “Contemporary Studies-Media in a Global World” and “History-Canada Since Confederation.”

1. I got a new camera lens that I’m absolutely loving!  It’s the Canon 55-250mm.  Photography is an expensive hobby but I hope to put some of my money towards building my gear because I really enjoy taking pictures. This picture is a shot of my gear to date.  Clicking the thumbnail will enlarge the photo for a closer look at what’s in my camera bag. Also featured in this picture are my Moos … These products are awesome!

2. Two weeks back, we found a stray dog in our backyard.  It was so sad looking, obviously neglected.  Not to mention it was pouring rain out – so we took it in to dry off and warm up.  We called our local SPCA and they were able to come pick it up.  Unfortunately when we called to check in on it a couple days later, we found out that it was given back to it’s original owners.  We hope it’s doing ok.  Anna (our future family vet) talks about it daily.

3. Last weekend I was asked to help out my friend Sarah shoot a wedding at Bingemans in Kitchener, Ontario.  It was awesome experience and there was no way I was going to turn down a day of photography.  My experience with portrature, is limited, but Sarah took a chance on me.  I think I was able to get a couple good shots, check them out below (more on flickr)..

Life – the whirlwind

life has been crazy busy lately.

i recently picked up 2 tutoring jobs – which have turned out to be great experiences. one is university level statistics (2nd year course), the other is a grade 5 student for math and English.
It’s keeping me busy – and making me realize just how much I’m into this teaching thing. I love being able to explain things (in different ways) to these students, and I’ve had great support and feedback along the way.

hobbies are on hold right now, which makes the artist in me go a little crazy on a daily basis. I’ve realized that in all this hustle and bustle that i need a creative outlet.

I had my camera in hand yesterday taking some pictures of the house – and I took a small tangent to take some pictures of my keyboard. It was fun while it lasted – but I wish I had more time.

I walk past my guitar everyday – it even has new strings on it – and it totally calls out to me to come play it. My songbook is on hold right now too; but I imagine it will take a long time to gather some of my fave songs.

Websites are also on hold – I have been contracted to work on a website for a company “GreenInsights” hopefully I can get that up and running by early May. That’s my goal/deadline.

I have even put Twitter on pause these last few days – example – today, i’m just getting around to checking it now. With 200+ tweets – i just don’t have time, they will have to sit on my TweetDeck for next time.

What I have been able to do is listen to music. I’ve made it a point to update my iPod more than once a week – keep things fresh while I’m on the go. Taking advantage of my iPod car holder, and ear buds btwn classes.
Top 3 tunes right now:
MGMT – Electric Feel
Imogen Heap – Goodnight and Go
Joshua Radin – One of those Days

Now back to wrapping up a paper – it’s 12:50 and my goal is done by 2am MAX!

wish me luck world
